Split tutto italiano! 

Partiamo con i Negro HC (ragazzi, ma il vostro logo è una citazione dei Necrodeath o è un'impressione nostra?). Hardcore punk brutto, sporco e cattivo direttamente da Fano, già terra florida in materia di musica estrema, che ci ha regalato gruppi come gli Un Quarto Morto e i Diorrhea. Questi baldi giovani picchiano che è una meraviglia, rifacendosi a vecchie glorie come Impact e Arturo e suonando in modo semplice ma funzionale al loro obiettivo: criticare la società ed ogni prodotto di quest'ultima. Il classico gruppo pestone da vedere ad un fest quando si è belli carichi e si ha voglia di pogare. Ottima prova! 

Gli Eternal Noire Doom da Fermo suonano invece un grind/crust molto rumoroso e caotico figlio sia dei Doom che di roba più moderna come i Nails. Si sentono anche delle tendenze sludge/stench, che sono la parte più interessante del suono di questi ragazzi e pensiamo che, coltivandole un po' di più e trovando un suono un po' più robusto, potrebbe essere un gruppo di quelli per cui strapparsi i capelli. Detto ciò, questo side dello split ci è piaciuto in quanto, pur mostrando la faccia più diretta e grind della band, si adatta bene al concetto di split e fa trasparire le loro potenzialità. 

Consigliato sia agli amanti del grind che a quelli dell'hardcore più classico.

An HC/GRIND split from Italy!

Negro HC from Fano (home of Un Quarto Morto and Diorreah) open the hostility with pissed off, negative and fast as fuck italian-style hc. They sound like if Impact and Arturo had a bastard son. Full throttle raw agression and total negativity drenched lyrics are the formula that Negro hc use to express their rage. Catch 'em live, we are sure they rock! Recommended to the old school addicted!

Eternal Noire Doom comes form Fermo and they're into the noisy Grind/Crust inspired by act like doom but also from "modern" stuff like Nails they also have sludgy/stench tendencies and we think that with a proper and "fatter" sound this would become one hell of a band.This side of this split the roughest side of the band that fits better in solit EP! If you're into hc and grind give'em a chance.

INTERVISTA IN ITALIANO: LINK

1) Cancer Spreading is a really active and prolific band, so we can skip the same old introduction. Let's just say that you play some monolithic stench-core influencend by early Earache/ Peaceville noise and extreme metal (if you don't think the same, just correct me). The band has made al lot of demos and EPs, so where are you heading now?
Hi, I'm Gabri (vocals) the line up is made by: Merlo (vocals + guitar), Japa (guitar), Otta (drums) e Matteino (bass). The description fits perfectly, so I will not add anything. We are currently waiting Neaderthal Records to release our brand new LP "Ghastly Visions" and we are also composing new stuff. We haven't planned any gig in the next months, but more plans for the 2016 will be revealed when the time is right.

2) Your Facebook page points Modena-Bologna as the place where you live, I don't know anything about Modena. Tell us about this city and its scene, collectives etc. How it is to live there?
The only influence that our city had on Cancer Spreading is that the sleazy atmosphere that our streets give made our attitude and sound so negative... At least for what concern me. There are a lot of great bands and some spaces but no matter what I will keep on hating Modena.

3) Cancer Spreading toured a lot, even outside the borders of Italy: how it was? What differences did you found between your places and abroad? Can you give some advices to a band that is approaching the tour for the first time?
Yes, in those last years we have been lucky enough to make a good number of tours around Europe. The main reason in my opinion is that our genre is more appreciated in other country rather than in Italy. There are a lot of differences, but the main one is that is it more simple to get in touch with bands like ours, in Germany there's al lot of places where you can organize a gig: squats, youth centers or even pubs managed by punx collectives. As suggestions: I really don't know... Dont' have great expectations (if you're playing on a monday night in a god forgotten country of eastern Europe, you can't expect a shitload of people... while it can happen), also you have to get used to the shit food cause is always like that.

4) Cancer Spreading had several splits and EPs with italian bands (Children of Technology, to name one) and foreign bands (like Fatum or Last Legion Alive). How do you work for a split release? You write ad hoc material for the format that you choosed? Beside the friendship with a band, there are some musical requirment for having a split with you?
Yes, when we put out a split 7" or 12" with another band we try to write more songs with the right lenght for the format. No particular musical requirment (I always thought that the cooler splits are the one with bands of different kinds). Cleary we have to like the band every time, our splits are born from the friendship with the other bands.

5) The layout and the cover of your records are always cool as hell and match totally with your sound. Do you made it by yourselves or are there some other artists involved? The cover art are linked to the lyrics or it just serve a pourpose?
Thanks. We always try to look after the layouts as much as we look after the music. Is an aspect that in my opinion have not to be ignored. I've always found "incomplete" good records with shitty artworks; music is the most important aspect for sure, but artwork are a powerful way to communicate something. Our first logo has been done by Merlo but, beside that, we never did our artworks by ourselves: several friends had done it like Geno (that, back in the days, was a squatter in Villa Panico and organized a lot of our gigs there and also made tattoos on some of us), the last artworks are made by Stiv of Visions of War and Klaudiusz Witckzack, our friends too and the right guys to pen our sick imaginery. Beside the covers, I always assembled the layouts by myself.

6) In one of the label of your split EPs (I think is the split with Cruel Storm) you used a picture taken from Kentaro Miura's Berserk. Are there some other media (movies, comics, books...) that are part of the CS imaginery?
It wasn't from the Cruel Storm's split. I started to put images taken from Berserk from the split with Drunkards. I've always used it because I've always been a die hard fan of the saga (expecially the first part of the comic), it reflects the nihilistic and deviated spirit of  CS. I'm really inspired by any kind of media, expecially for what concern the ideological background, the influences are really a lot, aniway, anything that is in our mood ... We always used movie as intro from movies like: Blood Sucking Freaks, The Beyond, Salò, Mouth of Madness, The Final Darkness, Carnival of Souls in Ghastly Visions. We also used a sample from an average little man from Monicelli, which is not an horror movie but it fits with our views.
Same goes for books since the first 7" with COT, we used as commetary to our lyrics parts of the bible (for the book of Jacob). The upcoming LP will feature some sentences from Diary of a Drug Friend by Alesteir Crowley.
Speaking of comics, is used only Berserk. I'm really attached to it, I grew up reading it.
As you can see, there's a lot of different art that influence us, I think that there's a common thread between those arts.
We hope that our listeners understand it.

7. Tell us five or more records that you consider mandatory.
This is difficult, I think every member you could give a different answer...
I try to name 5 that were big influences for Cancer Spreading.

1. Deviated Instinct: "Welcome To The Orgy" and "Terminal Filth Stenchcore" demo. In these LPs, for us, Deviated Instinct were at the peak, total filth never unmatched. Fundamental to our sound.
2. Amebix: "Arise!". Another undefeated masterpiece. I think there's no need for introductions. Personally I've always been a fan of the EP "No Sanctuary" and "Winter", because they are more sick ... but for Cancer Spreading I think Arise it's fine. 
3. Genital Deformities: "Shag Nasty Oi!". Unrecognized English Death Metal / Crust / Stenchcore from 80s. Nobody has ever recognized them, but we have them always worshiped and they are a big influence too for our sound. 
4. Bolt Thrower: "Cenotaph". Another huge influence, especially for our period "Death Crust" (Age Of Desolation / split 7 "with Black Trinity / Suffering). I think it is easily recognizable in many of our pieces, and I chose this EP rather than others just because it's the one with the most pieces raw. 
5. Coffins: "Sacrifice To Evil Spirit" demo. Though not released too many years ago, we really consumed this demo at the time of the formation of Cancer Spreading (2006/2007). I believe that in this case also influences within some of our pieces are obvious. Amazing group however, I am continuing to follow them and take almost everything they do go out.

8) Have you got any side projects?
I and Japa (one of the two guitarists), until recently played in the Black Temple Below, ultrafilhty and dark doom-sludge; unfortunately, the group has recently suspended the activities. I also sing in Terror Firmer (Grindcore) and Gravesite (Death Metal).
Japa also played in Campus Stermini but I think they are not in business anymore ...
Merlo played in Axis Of Desolation, stenchcore band a-la Deviated Instinct. Even they unfortunately broke up.
Matteino however also plays in Stasis, group Crust / Metal with members of Gravesite, Repulsione, Haemophagus and other groups in 1000. I recommend them, really cool group.

9) You shared the stage with metal bands like Fingernails and Bunker 66, back in the days it seems strange for punk and metal bands to get along, is it still like this?
There are still differences, unfortunately they are many. Pretty much all of us have always listened to metal beside of punk (and also other genres) and so there has always seemed quite normal to incorporate influences of this kind ... But I'll tell you that both sides are full of barriers towards each other. Human beings belong to any type of front really like quarrel about bullshits, because of the small differences with the other sides rather than to try to appreciate what you have in common. The closed-mindedness is a bad thing. Fortunately there are people who go above and beyond all this, we have many friends and "fans" in the metal scene and we often played and collaborated with metal bands. I sing in a death metal band, for example.

10) It seems that nothing is left to chance. How did you shaped the sound through time? Is there any peculiar equipment or effect?
No peculiar effects or equipment, we are poor. We can't afford it. I agree with you. We know clearly how a CS release have to sound. Through the years we downtuned our guitars more and more and we got that rancid and doughy sound.

11) Famous last words and thank you for getting through this boring interview.
Thanx a lot for the interview, it wasn't boring... We hope that the "Ghastly visions" LP will be out soon, is probably the best stuff we ever recorded 'till now....

1. Mi pare che siate in giro da un po', quindi salto la domanda di presentazione solita, ai lettori basti sapere che fate un massicio stench-core influenzato dal metallo estremo, tipo la roba che usciva per Peaceville negli anni '90 (poi correggetemi se sbaglio o non vi ritrovate) e che avete fatto un bel po' di demo EP e splits quindi, più che introdurvi, diteci cosa state facendo adesso e cosa programmate di fare nel prossimo futuro.
Ciao, qui Gabri (voce). Gli altri Cancer Spreading sono Merlo (voce e chitarra), Japa (chitarra), Otta (batteria) e Matteino (basso).Direi che come descrizione calza piuttosto bene quindi non aggiungo altro. Al momento stiamo aspettando che la Neanderthal Records faccia uscire il nostro nuovo Lp chiamato “Ghastly Visions”, e nel mentre stiamo già iniziando a comporre roba nuova. Non abbiamo programmato date nei prossimi mesi, ma per il 2016 abbiamo già un po' di piani che riveleremo quando sarà l'ora.

2. Come città natale il vostro FB segna Modena-Bologna, di Modena so veramente poco (vi giuro, mi viene in mente solo l’aceto). Raccontatemi un po' di questa città: gruppi, spazi, collettivi, clima... insomma come si sta?
Personalmente l'unica influenza che ha avuto la nostra città sui Cancer Spreading è che il clima squallido che si respira nella nostra città ha contribuito ad instillare così tanta negatività nel suono e nell'attitudine del nostro gruppo... almeno, per quanto mi riguarda è così. Ci sono altri gruppi validi e qualche posto che dà spazio anche ai generi come il nostro esiste ancora, ma nonostante tutto odio e odierò sempre vivere in questa città.

3. Ho visto che avete suonato un bel po' in giro anche fuori dall’Italia: come vi siete trovati? Che differenza c’è tra fuori e casa vostra? Che consigli dareste a chi affronta un tour per la prima volta?
Sì, soprattutto negli ultimi anni abbiamo avuto la fortuna di partecipare a un buon numero di tour, minitour e festival vari sparsi per l'Europa... il motivo principale credo che risieda nel fatto che ci sono senza dubbio più estimatori all'estero di quello che facciamo rispetto che in Italia. Le differenze sono tante, ogni paese è più o meno diverso sotto molti aspetti. Sia in positivo che in negativo, sia chiaro. Però credo che la differenza principale risieda nella relativa facilità con cui si può entrare in contatto con una realtà come la nostra, in paesi come la Germania ad esempio ci sono decisamente più persone, gruppi e soprattutto posti dove organizzare... sia squat che youth center che semplici locali, magari gestiti da collettivi punk. Come consigli non saprei proprio, non bisogna mai avere troppe aspettative (ad esempio non si può pretendere il pienone di lunedì sera in un posto sconosciuto di un paese dell'Est Europa... anche se potrebbe succedere) e adeguarsi al cibo di merda: questa sarà una costante!

4. Avete fatto uscire vari splits sia con realtà italiche (Children of Technology, ad esempio) che estere (come i più recenti Fatum o Last Legion Alive). Come vi organizzate per uno split? Scrivete materiale ad hoc per un determinato formato (7” piuttosto che cd o cassetta per esempio)? Oltre alla stima reciproca, ci sono dei requisiti sonori che vi guidano nella scelta di un gruppo con cui splittare?
Sì, quando decidiamo di fare uno split 7” o 12” con un altro gruppo cerchiamo di comporre pezzi più o meno nella lunghezza giusta per il formato...Requisiti sonori particolari non ce ne sono (anche perché sono sempre stato convinto che sia bello fare anche split con gruppi che propongono generi diversi), ovviamente però il gruppo ci deve piacere.In praticamente tutti i casi, gli split che abbiamo fatto sono nati dall'amicizia e della stima reciproca con gli altri gruppi con cui splittavamo, è questa è sempre stata la ragione principale.

5. Altra cosa che mi colpisce dei vostri dischi sono le grafiche sempre ben studiate e molto in tono con il vostro sound. Sono opera vostra o vengono da altri? Sono legate ai testi o immagini semplicemente affini al contesto?
Grazie, è un aspetto che cerchiamo sempre di curare di pari passo con la musica. Secondo me è un lato che in un disco non va trascurato, ho sempre considerato “incompleti” dischi con bella musica ma artwork di merda o comunque per niente  curato... ovvio che la musica è la cosa più importante ma per me anche gli artwork sono comunque un'importante mezzo comunicativo.A parte il nostro “storico” primo logo, fatto dal Merlo, non abbiamo mai curato noi stessi i nostri artwork ma ci siamo sempre affidati ad amici che avessero ben chiaro quello ch è il concept e lo stile del nostro gruppo... dai primi artwork fatti da amici come Geno (ai tempi occupante di Villa Panico e organizzatore di molti dei nostri concerti fatti là, nonché tatuatore di alcuni noi) agli ultimi fatti da Stiv dei Visions Of War e Klaudiusz Witckzack, anch'essi ormai cari amici e sicuramente le persone ideali per trasformare in immagini le nostre visioni distorte. Per quanto riguarda invece i layout dei dischi veri e propri, ho quasi sempre assemblato e curato io tutti i dettagli prima di venire stampati.

6. Mi pare che nel centrino dello split coi Cruel Storm ci sia un'immagine tratta da Berserk (non ricordo se il centrino fosse vostro o dei Cruel Storm, in vero)... quindi vi chiedo: ci sono altri media (film, libri, fumetti) che ispirano l’immaginario dei Cancer Spreading?
In realtà non è nello split coi Cruel Storm, quello di mettere immagini prese da Berserk nei centrini dei 7” è una mia fissa che ho iniziato ad avere da, se non sbaglio, lo split coi Drunkards. Da allora li ho sempre messi.Questo perché sono sempre stato un fanatico di quella serie (soprattutto i primi numeri) e penso che anche quello in qualche modo rispecchi lo spirito deviato e nichilista dei Cancer. Sono ispirato da qualunque tipo di media per quello che riguarda il nostro gruppo: soprattutto per quello che riguarda il background ideologico, possono essere veramente tante le influenze. Come ti dicevo prima, tutto ciò che reputo in qualche modo rifletta il mood dei nostri pezzi e dei nostri testi... Abbiamo sempre usato spezzoni di film come intro di alcuni nostri pezzi: “Buio Omega”, “Bloodsucking Freaks”, “E Tu Vivrai Nel Terrore...L'Aldilà”, “Salò o le 120 Giornate di Sodoma”, “Carnival Of Souls”, “Il Seme della Follia” sono quelli che mi vengono in mente ora... in Ghastly Visions abbiamo usato come outro uno spezzone di “Un Borghese Piccolo Piccolo” di Monicelli, che per quanto non sia un horror o altro, riflette totalmente il nostro spirito e la nostra linea di pensiero. Libri stesso discorso, dal primo 7” coi COT in cui ho usato come commento ai testi dei frammenti della Bibbia (dal Libro di Giobbe) all'ultimo disco che sta per uscire, in cui ho usato un paio di frasi prese da “Diary Of A Drug Fiend” di Alesteir Crowley. Fumetti invece, ho sempre e solo usato Berserk per il momento. C’è una grossa componente affettiva che mi lega a questo lavoro, sono cresciuto leggendolo. Come vedi la quantità di forme diverse di arte che incorporiamo nel nostro gruppo è alta, ma penso che ci sia un filo comune che collega il tutto. Spero che anche i nostri ascoltatori riescano a coglierlo.

7. Ditemi cinque (o quanti volete) dischi che reputate fondamentali e perché.
Questa è difficile, penso ogni membro ti potrebbe dare una risposta diversa... cerco di mettercene 5 che sono stati grosse influenze per i Cancer.

1. Deviated Instinct: “Welcome To The Orgy” e “Terminal Filth Stenchcore” demo. In questi dischi per noi i Deviated Instinct erano all'apice, marciume totale mai ineguagliato. Fondamentali per la nostra formazione. 
2. Amebix “Arise!”. Altro capolavoro ineguagliato, non credo abbia bisogno di introduzioni. Personalmente sono sempre stato un fanatico degli ep “No Sanctuary” e “Winter” perché ancora più malati... ma per i Cancer Spreading credo che vada bene “Arise!”. 
3. Genital Deformities “Shag Nasty Oi!”. Misconosciuta formazione Death Metal/ Crust/ Stenchcore inglese degli anni 80. Nessuno se li è mai cagati, ma noi li abbiamo sempre adorati e sono stati una grossa influenza anche loro per il nostro sound. 
4. Bolt Thrower “Cenotaph”. Altra enorme influenza, soprattutto per il nostro periodo più “Death Crust” (Age Of Desolation/split 7” coi Black Trinity/Suffering). Credo sia facilmente riconoscibile in molti dei nostri pezzi, e ho scelto questo ep piuttosto che altri solo perché è quello con i pezzi più grezzi. 
5. Coffins “Sacrifice To Evil Spirit” demo. Questo demo, per quanto non uscito troppi anni fa, lo abbiamo veramente consumato all'epoca della formazione dei Cancer (2006/2007). Credo che anche in questo caso le influenze all'interno di alcuni dei nostri pezzi siano evidenti. Gran gruppo comunque, sto continuando a seguirli e a prendere quasi tutto quello che fanno uscire.

8. Fate un po' di pubblicità a side projects (se ne avete, ma se non sbaglio il vostro cantante urlava pure nei Terror Firmer, ne sono abbastanza sicuro: ho in mano il loro 7” in questo momento) e a gruppi di amici e/o rosticcerie di parenti.
Io e Japa (uno dei 2 chitarristi) fino a poco tempo fa suonavamo nei Black Temple Below, Doom/Sludge marcissimo e oscuro. Purtroppo il gruppo ha da poco sospeso le attività. Oltre a questo io canto anche nei Terror Firmer (Grindcore) e i Gravesite (Death Metal). Japa oltre a questo suonava anche nei Campus Stermini ma non credo siano ancora in attività... così come lui e il Merlo suonavano negli Axis Of Desolation, gruppo di Stenchcore primordiale tipo primi Deviated Instinct. Anche loro purtroppo si sono sciolti. Matteino invece suona anche negli Stasis, gruppo Crust/Metal con membri di Gravesite, Repulsione, Haemophagus e altri 1000 gruppi. Ve li consiglio, gruppo veramente figo.

9. Ho visto che avete condiviso il palco con gruppi Metal tipo i Fingernails o i Bunker 66. Prima la comunione tra due generi come il punk e il metal faceva un po' strano, ora sembrano invece molto più vicini. Ci sono ancora differenze tra le due “scene”?
Ce ne sono parecchie purtroppo. Più o meno tutti noi abbiamo sempre ascoltato anche metal oltre che punk (ed anche altri generi tralaltro) e quindi ci è sempre sembrata una cosa abbastanza normale incorporare influenze di questo tipo... ma ti dirò che entrambi gli schieramenti sono pieni di seghe mentali e barriere gli uni verso gli altri. Agli esseri umani appartenenti a qualunque tipo di schieramento piace molto accapigliarsi su stronzate per via delle piccole differenze  con gli altri schieramenti piuttosto che invece cercare di apprezzare ciò che si ha in comune. La chiusura mentale è una brutta cosa. Fortunatamente ci sono persone che vanno al di là di tutto questo, abbiamo molti amici e “fan” nella scena Metal e spesso abbiamo suonato e collaborato con gruppi Metal. Io stesso canto anche in un gruppo Death Metal ad esempio.

10. Nel vostro suono mi sembra che poco o niente sia lasciato al caso. Come lo avete affinato nel corso del tempo? Avete prestato attenzione a particolari effetti o equipaggiamento?
No, particolari effetti o equipaggiamento direi proprio di no. Siamo poveri, non possiamo permettercelo ahah.Più che altro ti do ragione sul fatto che ormai abbiamo bene chiaro come deve suonare un disco dei Cancer. Col tempo abbiamo abbassato l'accordatura sempre di più, fino a raggiungere al suono rancido e pastoso di oggi.

11. Concludete pure come volete e grazie per essere arrivati in fondo a questo tedio.
Grazie mille per l'intervista, non è stato assolutamente un tedio...Concludo dicendo che spero il prima possibile uscirà “Ghastly Visions”, molto probabilmente la cosa migliore che abbiamo fatto finora... andate a dare un ascolto ai pezzi che ci sono online: LINK.

Nihildum - st

Finalmente delle sonorità più leggere approdano sul blog: arrivano i Nihildum con i loro tempi pacati, i riffs quasi ska e la loro ventata di ottimismo....
                                                   
                          ANCHE NO PERò!!!!!

Lo stench-core invade U.A. e lo fa in grande stile, altro che ska!
Questo è un dei demo più estremi che abbia mai recensito ed è decisamente sconsigliato ai deboli di cuore e gli ascoltatori dai gusti più leggeri! 
Queste registrazioni mi sono state inviate da Mario, batterista della band non che ex batterista di Dirty power Game, Malazione, Malattia, D.Y.S. (quelli de Roma non quelli americani) e attuale scassa pelli di F.C.T./ Tear Me Down e per l'appunto Nihildum...
Chi lo conosce sa che il ragazzo è un maestro nel pestaggio dei tamburi e questa volta ha trovato dei degni compari che gli tengono testa.
Ma addentriamoci nei meandri di questo ferale dem: un tetro arpeggio da il via alle danze e un intro strumentale di ben cinque minuti funge da presentazione dell'oscuro mondo dei Nihildum, arpeggi si alternano a sferraglianti cavalcate metalliche (epicissimo l'assolino dell'intro), claustrofobici rallentamenti semi doom si fondono con ripartenze al limite del thrash o sfuriate più tipicamente crust, growls cavernosi narrano di un'umanità oramai al capolinea.
Veramente un esordio col botto, un gruppo da tenere d'occhio.
Le influenze che il gruppo mi cita nella bio sono quelle che potete immaginare: Misery, Deviated Instinct, Bolt Thrower e compagnia stenchosa, però io sento anche l'influenza di gruppi più tipicamente metal come i Sacrilege o i Celtic Frost prima maniera, con una chitarra che da una parte guarda al doom e dall'altra al metal estremo.
Purtroppo i testi non sono pervenuti quindi, causa sopracitato growl cavernoso, non so dirvi di cosa parlano ma titoli come "La marcia degli automi" o "Verso il nulla creatore" non fanno presagire nulla di buono.
La registrazione è congeniale al genere, pulita abbastanza da fare sentire tutto ma senza essere troppo rifinita e questo dà quel sentore di demo tape antico che fa sempre piacere.
Lo stench core sta vivendo una sorta di rinascita e ovviamente ci sarannno gruppi che salteranno sul carrozzone guidati dalla moda, per fortuna però ci sono anche gruppi che lo fanno con stile (un esempio sempre italiano: i Cancer Spreading) i Nihildum sono tra questi e se continueranno su questa strada penso che ci sapranno regalare delle ottime soprese (magari sotto forma vinilica!).

Stench core arrives ono U.A,! and it comes to take no prisioners.
That's one of the most extreme demo ever rewiewed here, definitely not for the faint hearted and for who have less extreme tastes in music! 
These recordings where sent by Mario, the drummer of the band and ex drummer of Dirty Power Game, Malazione,Malattia D.Y.S.(the one from Roma city non the ones from the u.s.a.) and is actually bashing the drumskins in FCT/Tear Me Down and obviously Nihildum...
The guy is a real blast behind the drumset and this he found out some fellas that can compete with him. 
But let's talk about this gloomy and rotten demo: a grim arpeggio open the dances, introducing the listener into the dark world of Nihildum, a slow 5 minutes intro where doomish slow parts merges with metallic guitar rides and some solos, this demo is a maze of claustrophobic downtempos that turns into thrash-like storming or pure crust assaults, a Low pitched distrurbing growl tell us the tale of a humanity that is near to the end.
The band declares that in the bio is influenced by Misery, Deviated Instinct, Bolt Thrower and all the stenchous crew but beside them i hear the influcence of the U.K.'s Sacrilege and of the first era Celtic frost with a guitar that with is oriented both to extreme metal and doom.
Sadly i can't tell what the lyrics are about since are not included and due the growl are pretty hard to understand, but titles as "Verso il nulla creatore" (Towards the creating void) doesn't leave much to the immagination. The recording is clear but they have an "old demo tape-like" aurea which make the release really interesting.
Stench core seems to be reborn and i'm sure that many band will jump into the trend soon as they recognize it, but at least we got some real good band (another italian kicks ass stench core band is Cancer Spreading), Nihildum is one of these.
If they continue on this way they will sure give us some really good surprise(maybe on vinilic form).
