Prima prova per i partenopei Madness Circus che si presentano con un EP di 5 tracce, scelta azzeccata per presentare un gruppo emergente.
Fin dalle prime note non è stato facile inquadrare lo stile degli M.C.
La biografia della band parla NuMetal \Rapcore etc. quindi mi aspettavo una demo dal suono di Deftones, Korn e compagnia di fine millenio, invece ho trovato un sound ibrido e che si discosta parzialmente dal genere descritto.
Intendiamoci, la sezione ritmica potente e ritmata è sicuramente ispirata dal nu metal ,così come l'alternanza tra parti vocali graffianti e pulite.
Ma c'è qualcosa nelle chitarre che si distacca dal suono cupo e morboso di certe band e, secondo me, certi riffs e certi fraseggi sono imparentati con l'heavy (magari con dell'heavy un po' più moderno, ma pur sempre su quei riff siamo) .
Quindi ricapitoliamo: voce che alterna fraseggi puliti a voci più graffiate\rappate, sezione ritmica potente e schiacciassi, chitarre metallose e melodiche, niente di nuovo mi dite?
Vero, però è fatto con stile... molto!
Registrazione cristallina e tecnica individuale ottima rendono questa demo di un'ottima qualita.
Presenta 5 tracce; l'opener “Dazed by the silence” e “Dreaming” fungono da apripista e ci presentano la band ma, anche se sono tracks di indubbio valore, secondo me non sono fighe quanto le seguenti.
Di seguito c'è la ballad , a mio parere non centra il bersaglio primo perché manca di un bel refrain ed è un po' troppo prolissa, secondo una canzone del genere affossa le reali capacità della band che invece spiccano nei due brani finali “Feed your contraddiction” e “Welcome to the madness circus” che hanno tutte le potenzialità per spaccare e rimare in testa all'ascoltatore, ovvero refrain marcati, strutture accattivanti, riffs panterosi alternati ad altri più veloci e un senso della melodia usato bene senza imbastardire troppo il suono.
Con questo non voglio dire che il resto sia da buttare, anzi, però io credo che la strada migliore per il gruppo è quella degli ultimi due pezzi.
La lingua usata è l'inglese e i testi sono molto personali, penso che siano interpretabili da ognuno a suo modo. Sarebbe interessante sentire Lord Beast (voce) cantare in italiano.
Insomma un'ottima band che se saprà sperimentare partendo da queste ottime basi potrà fare un ottimo primo album.
Una Napoli che non ti aspetti (così a memoria di gruppo partenopeo mi ricordo solo gli Underage)!

First demo from the Naples band Madness Circus,they comes up with a 5 tracks EP a perfect choice to present a band newborn band.
Since the first note is to identify the music genre of this band.
The bio speaks about Nu metal\rapcore and so i expected a Deftones\Korn clone-band,but that's not
what you find when you push the play button.
I mean rythm section is powerfull and similiar to the band of the end of the 90's but there's something in the guitar sound that less “NU”,the riff doesnt sound so morbid or depressed but otherwise they are heavy,melodic and similiar to the modern style of heavy metal.
So nothingh new under the sun but it's done with a lot of style.
The demo is record extremely well.
The opener “Dazed by the silence” and “Dreaming” open this demo and they are surely good and “hard-as-rock” tracks but i think the other songs of the band are really more cool.
The thid track “Fall into your sky” is a semi ballad that didnt chatches my attention basically for the lack of a good refrain and the verbose structure.
Then the demos explodes with two blasting track “Feed your contraddiction” and “Welcome to the madness circus” two tracks that alternates melody , fury and very remarcable refrains i think that if the band keep on going like this will obviously put out a very awesome debut abulm.
So Naples doesn't stand just for shitty Neo melodical singers,camorra and undefeatable trash but also for good rock band like this
