FABLE-LONG HATH THE NIGHT DWELT

 Da quando l'incendio è divampato nel bosco, il regno felice del gufo è diventato una tirannia oppressiva, dove il fuoco è l'unica legge e la prigionia l'unica moneta. Chi abita questo luogo non conosce pace, dove la notte impera e il gufo preda su tutti.

Questo affascinante concept svela il debutto dei Fable, combo spagnolo che tre mesi fa ha fatto uscire questo album. È abitato da volti noti della scena metal  tradizionale spagnola, che portano nuovo sangue in una linfa antica. E chiaramente, una band che si definisce antifascist heavy metal  non poteva che attirare l'attenzione della nostra webzine, sia per la vicinanza a questo ideale che per noi è imprescindibile, sia in seconda battuta per il loro splendido modo di intendere l'heavy metal.

Si tratta di sonorità antiche e malinconiche che prendono spunto da Ashbury, Thin Lizzy, così come Medusa, Dust e tutto quel Hard & Heavy che flirtava con la malinconica epicità ma ancora non era heavy metal ma era già troppo per essere hard rock. E così abbiamo melodie taglienti e malinconiche che fischiano come il vento in questo bosco, tormentato dal terribile gufo tiranno che spreme le vite di chi lo abita.

Cantate con maestria da Alberto, che ricordiamo come chitarrista di varie altre formazioni, intervistato già qui su xUndisputed Attitudex per essere un graphic designer formidabile, che qui invece canta con un tono veramente pieno e soulful con una bellissima voce a metà tra Mark Shelton e Biff Byford, è molto espressiva e certamente indimenticabile nel panorama heavy metal dove diciamo che il registro alto fa per fort da padrone ma esistono anche esempi dove per fortuna esiste un'altra visione.

È un EP relativamente breve con un prologo parlato e vari altri inserti melodici che vanno a raccontare questa storia ma sono sorprendentemente organici e freschi nonostante facciano riferimento a uno stile che spesso è ancora più antico di quello che già chiamiamo traditional metal. Sono i gruppi che vorremmo sentire, quelli che mettono passione, suono e ricerca anche in un approccio old school ma che non dimenticano che nelle allegorie fantasy, nel fantastico e nelle storie che attraversano la vita di tutti noi c'è anche da raccontare qualcosa di più importante.

Benvenuti Fable. Non vediamo l'ora che questo disco venga stampato in vinile per Dying Victims Records. Non vediamo l'ora di averlo sul giradischi, ma non vediamo l'ora anche di sentire materiale nuovo che sappiamo non ci deluderà affatto.

Since the fire ravaged the forest, the owl's once happy kingdom has become an oppressive tyranny where fire is the only law and imprisonment the only reward. Where night reigns supreme, there is no peace, and the owl preys on all who inhabit this domain.
Within this fascinating concept unfolds the debut of Fable, a Spanish combo that released this album three months ago. It's inhabited by familiar faces from the Spanish old school metal scene, bringing fresh blood into an ancient lineage. And clearly, a band that defines itself as antifascist heavy metal  couldn't help but capture the attention of our webzine, both for their proximity to this ideal that is indispensable to us, and secondly, for the splendid way they interpret heavy metal.
These are ancient and melancholic sounds that draw inspiration from Ashbury, Tim Leasy, as well as Medusa, Dust,Wishbone Ash and all that Hard & Heavy that flirted with melancholic epicism but wasn't yet heavy metal, yet was too much to be hard rock. And so we have cutting and melancholic melodies that whistle like the wind in this forest, tormented by the terrible tyrant owl who squeezes the life from those who inhabit it.
Masterfully sung by Alberto, whom I remember as a guitarist in various other formations, and whom I've interviewed here on Undisputed Attitude for being a formidable graphic designer, who instead sings here with a truly full and soulful tone with a beautiful voice halfway between Mark Shelton and... Biff Byford it's actually very expressive and certainly unforgettable in the heavy metal landscape where, let's face it, the high register fortunately reigns supreme, but thankfully there are also examples of this kind where another vision exists.
It's a relatively brief EP with a spoken prologue and various other melodic inserts that tell this story, yet are surprisingly organic and fresh despite referencing a style that is often even older than what we already call traditional metal. These are the groups we want to hear - those who put passion, sound, and research into an old school approach but don't forget that in fantasy allegories, the fantastical, and the stories that run through all our lives, there's also something more important to tell.
Welcome, Fable. We can't wait for this album to be pressed on vinyl by Dying Victims Records. We can't wait to have it on our turntable, but we also can't wait to hear new material that we know won't disappoint us at all.
