Mi appresto a recensire una delle più fresche realtà nell'ambito della stantia e merdosa scena punk-hc italiana: parlo degli Intothebaobab.
Non fatevi prendere dalla frettolosità e dal pregiudizio (come confesso di aver fatto io in un primo momento). Certo hanno un nome strano, creste colorate, grafiche esuberanti che magari possono far pensare al solito gruppo street punk con tanto colore ma poca personalità...
Bhe niente di tutto questo!
Gli Intothebaobab suonano a modo loro, riuscendo nella funambolica impresa di suonare come cazzo vogliono, pur rimanendo autenticamente punk, tanto che anche un maniaco delle influenze e dei generi come me non sa inquadrarli in un genere preciso.
Certo,qualche richiamo c'è:
il riff di "Eutanasia a Medicina" potrebbe essere tranquillamente dei Nabat (anzi azzardo di più, potrebbe essere la "Laida Bologna" del terzo millenio, non per niente c'è anche una certa affinità territoriale con la band di Steno) e "Luce Nera" col suo inquietante e cupo incedere sarebbe piaciuta ai Nerorgasmo, ma si tratta di somiglianze minime che non sono indicative.
La band suona il suo punk acido,talvolta pieno di allegre melodie, talvolta più lento e cupo,suoni di chitarre particolarmente ispirati e particolari per il contesto, basso pulsante e presente quanto basta, batteria ben suonata e non troppo veloce, pezzi orecchiabili e cantabili in maniera stupenda, voce del cantante roca ma comprensibile!
Parlando di testi e attitudine, potevano non essere fuori dagli schemi anche qui? Ovviamente si!
Pacifisti, ma non fotocopie sbiadite dell'etica crassiana, creste colorate, ma tanto cervello,
testi ironici e provocatori, ma con mille riscontri nella realtà come pochi o nessuno ha fatto qui da noi!
Secondo me tutti, dai cruster addobbati di toppe, ai grinders estremi per forza, ai nyhc'ers denoantri, passando per i neo-thrasher che scrivono "trash" anzichè "thrash" dovreberò imparare da questa realtà che ha fatto un disco d'esordio coi controcoglioni, fottendosene di stile, preconcetti, cazzi e mazzi e che suonando spacca tutto!

neanche ve lo dico che hanno bisogno di coproduttori. Ajò, dategli una mano!!!!
Ok guys and gals in the next rewiew your beloved blogkeeper (beloved? i don't know, maybe hated, non one leaves a goddamned comment here) will talk about one of the hottest bands of the shitty italian scene:
this band is Intothebaobab.
Ok guys don't let you be overtaken by prejudices (like i did in the first time with this band, i must admit)...
They have colored mohawks, exuberhant graphics and some funny lyrics, so you may think to the usual Casualities-clone band with a lot of color but a little less brain, well there's nothing of this in this cd!
You can't recognize any similiarity with someother bands, yes maybe the riff by "Eutnasia a Medicina" sounds a little bit in Nabat-style (maybe is the "Laida Bologna" of the 20th century, and ITB have the same origin with the band by Steno, they're both from Emilia) and Dark and Gloomy Slow-tempo of "Luce Nera" seems to be an outake by the mighty Nerorgasmo, but it's just a feeling, it's really hard to compare this band with some other noise,because is really unique.
They have own way to play punk, remaining punk at all!
They have a very interesting guitar sound, using the guitar effects in very strange way, a very strong bass sound that will blow your head and very well-inspired singing style, this cd is full of sing-a-longs!
Even in the attitude and lyrics ITB are original and not common, they're pacifist without being a faded copycat by Crass, and they have coloured mohawks, but they're heads are full of impressive ideas, the lyrics are serious but with a real ironic touch (i've made a translation for all you, non italian speaking readers!).
They criticize the system, without being repetitve.
I think that all from the patch filled crusters to the "extreme to any cost" grinders, passing from the MachoTough guys to the neo-thrashers that write "trash" unless that "Thrash" have to learn from ITB that beside from style, patches, pins, flyings cocks etch. have made a first cd that fucking rocks!
