The Smashrooms - Winds Of Tomorrow

Terza prova del power- trio bresciano uscita dopo il full lenght del 2007 " Rest in War".
Devo ammettere che il sopra citato disco non mi aveva impressionato, sopratutto per via delle vocals del cantante Gab che mi ricordavano troppo quelle degli Affluente vecchio stile.
Questo paragone, seppur alla lontana, inficiava, da parte del sottoscritto, l'ascolto
( ehi Gab, non ti offendere, sono solo gusti personali, ci chiamiamo anche allo stesso modo :)
Comunque, tornando al 7" in questione, trovo gli Smashrooms cambiati, anzi per meglio dire evoluti perché se le premesse di base sono le stesse, ovvero un hardcore veloce ma non troppo con vari cambi di tempo e qualche apertura melodica, il suono e la registrazione si sono radicalmente modificati così come gli arrangiamenti.
Detto ciò, in questa loro ultima fatica ho avuto modo di ascoltare le parti pulite proposte da Gab e devo ammettere che mi piacciono veramente tanto.
La band canta in inglese, un inglese tutto sommato ben scritto e di facile comprensione, senza errori e strafalcioni tipici delle bands italiche ( o di quelli che faccio io nel blog ).
Per la scelta dell'idioma e per la cura di suoni e grafiche, vedo il gruppo orientato verso la scena internazionale piuttosto che verso quella italiana; questo se da un lato potrà sembrare depersonalizzante per i puristi dell' hc cantato in italiano ma invece è un grande pregio che li parta ad essere compresi dai più.
Questa mia "teoria" è "confermata" dal fatto che hanno già fatto vari tour in Europa.
Da questo punto di vista c'è da imarare dagli Smashrooms perché almeno dal prodotto finale emerge che danno il 100% di loro stessi, cosa che a molte band italiane, anche potenzialmente ottime, non riesce.
Parlando invece delle tematiche trattate nei testi si va dall'introspettività a critiche radicali contro varie sovrastrutture che in qualche modo regolano la vita di tutti i giorni.
Alla fine del booklet c'è un messaggio che inneggia al ritorno della politica e della protesta come valore principale all'interno dell'hc, non posso che schierarmi totalmente a favore in questi tempi in cui hardcore significa semplicemente avere tanti tatuaggi e tante Nike.
Gli Smashrooms certamente non sono questo.

That's the third work of the brescian power-trio Smashrooms after the full lenght of the 2007 "Rest in War".
I must admit it i never liked the previous cd so much due the vocals of the the singer Gab that reminded me early Affluente(Hey Dude! don't take it personally is just a matter of musical tastes,in the end we have even the same name!).
Aniway back to this 7" i've found the band changed or better the band is evolved,becausr their musical style is the same(Not to fast old school Hardcore with choruses and a lot of beat changes),the production,the sound and the graphic are a lot improved and can hear on this release some bone chilling clean vocal by Gab that i had really enjoyed.
The lyrics of the band are in english,simple and well written and withouth the typical errors of the italian bands(or the ones that i write on this blog) .
I think that Smashrooms are oriented for the internatiol scene more than the italian one and the english language and the various tour all along Europe are maybe a "proof" of my theory.
Some purist of the italian singed are HC will maybe dislike this choice but one thing is shure,the band use the 100% of their possibility in everything they do(or at least is what comes up from this release) in country where even potential good bands waste their talent.
Speaking about the lyrics are a little introspective but without forgetting to yell about all the sovrastructures that keep us controlled.
in the booklet there is also a statement that wish the return of politics and potrest as the main value in HC and these time in whic HC means just a lot of tattoos and a lot of nikes that's the best thing you can write and is good that finally a band take a side of what HC really is.
A real good job.
